It's that time of year again! The Christmas season is here! The music is happier and there is a little more magic in the air. This season holds one of my happiest places in the world. For some reason, sitting on the couch in the living room (which no one really uses until Christmas . . . ) next to our LIVE tree seems to be the place that feels the most like home. Just bringing a good book (I'm currently working on the A Song of Ice and Fire series that Game Of Thrones comes from), a mug of hot chocolate and a cozy blanket by the tree is so perfect. Nothing beats the smell of a live Christmas tree around the holidays. Sorry to all of you artificial tree users.
As an artist, and I'm certain other artists probably do the same, when it comes to giving loved ones gifts, making artwork for them becomes somewhat of a go-to. It's something you know someone else wont get them and its a personal gift which sometimes might mean more to the person you are making it for. It really is a great way to connect with people as well. The person who makes the art and the person who owns it have a very specific bond.
One person thought that the work was important enough in their head to work tirelessly to make it a reality outside the confines of their mind.
And the other person, they saw something in the artwork that resonated with them. It caught their eye or has something in it that they can identify with.
Making someone a piece of artwork is personal. It shows that not only do you want them to have something to remind them of who they are but also that you think they are worth it to spend so much time and thought on. I absolutely love giving people art as a gift and I too have been on the receiving end of that exchange as well. Art can be the perfect gift.
